Job Description

The Lactation Consultant is skilled in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to assist the breastfeeding mother to attain her individual goals. The Lactation Consultant functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary health care team as a consultant, educator, and mentor to nurses, healthcare professionals, and patients. Consistently demonstrates behaviors that model the Hospitals core values and mission statement.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Current Washington State RN Licensure. Preferred that the candidate have one-year experience as an RN and should be an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). If certification is not current the candidate should have five years experience with breastfeeding. Knowledgeable and skilled in the physiology and clinical management of breastfeeding. Ability to perform the primary functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of all assigned patients. HCP (Healthcare Provider) Level of BLS (Basic Life Support) within 30 days of hire. Must obtain IBCLC within 2 years of hire.
