Job Description

This position is responsible to assist labor team with deliveries and assist with newborn care, including feedback, hygiene, and vital signs. Provide direct/indirect patient care for infants and maternity patients under the supervision of an RN and facilitate communication of patient needs to licensed nursing personnel. Coordinates paper flow and clerical duties for labor and delivery, post partum, and newborn patients. The MBU Obstetric & Scrub Technician serves as an adjunct to nursing care for a caseload of patients under the direction of and in collaboration with the Registered Nurse.

 This position is also responsible for performing the functions of an Operating Room Scrub Technician in collaboration with the Mother Baby Unit Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse. Responsible for adhering to AWHONN Standards of Practice, for managing supplies and equipment with the direction of Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse, and for promoting team work with physicians and personnel of other departments.



POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED. Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Current Washington State Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification. One-year general surgical experience preferred if not certified and/or a graduate of approved program. Washington Stated registered Scrub Technician.  Current CPR certification – Healthcare Provider (HCP) level.
