Job Description

This position is responsible for answering multi-line phone, as initial receptionist, for many calls into Patient Financial Services Department. Calls will be answered quickly and courteously. The Receptionist will answer callers’ questions, concerns, whenever possible, or transfer calls to other department personnel or to the appropriate biller. The Receptionist will greet the public courteously, will work with patients/guarantors in setting up acceptable payment arrangements, to ensure A/R remains current, answer questions, receive payments and daily deposit in accordance with departmental policies and procedures, etc.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED and least one-year of college level course work in a business or related field, or a combination of education/experience preferred. Three (3) years’ experience in credit/collections environment, in a healthcare setting preferred. Must be able to efficiently operate mainframe, calculator, fax machine, microfiche, personal computer, photo copier, and word processor. Familiar with reimbursement practices of government and non-government reimbursement sources essential. Familiar with eligibility requirements of third party payers, bankruptcy, probate, charity, and other litigation processes. Bilingual preferred. HCP (Healthcare Provider) Level of BLS (Basic Life Support) within three (3) months of hire.
