Job Description

The Quality and Patient Safety Coordinator supports the Director of Quality and Risk in the planning and implementation of a systematic program for outcomes management and quality improvement efforts at Samaritan Healthcare.  In conjunction with the Director of Quality and Risk, this position is responsible for ensuring compliance with internal as well as external regulatory reporting requirements.  In addition, the position serves as support to the Department Chairs and the clinical leadership in monitoring and evaluating processes for outcomes management, performance improvement, and peer review.  This position also serves as a team facilitator and consultative resource for clinical and departmental staff and leadership responsible for Quality and Performance Improvement activities at Samaritan Healthcare.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Current Washington State license as a Registered Nurse (RN), Minimum one (1) to three (3) years prior experience in related health care field, preferably clinical nursing, medical records/information systems, or utilization/risk management. Preferred health care quality assessment and improvement field, including hands-on experience with clinical department Quality Improvement committee structures and processes. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Demonstrates strong organizational skills along with attention to detail. Must be highly organized and able to focus on task at hand. Possesses critical thinking and analytic skills. Demonstrates ability to work autonomously. Basic Life Support Heartsaver (HS) level to be completed within three (3) months of hire.
